Kids Voting USA

Kids Voting USA is a K-12 voter education program committed to creating lifelong voting habits in children. The organization is nonpartisan and driven by grassroots involvement. Check out the site to view the programs they offer, or to add your school as an affiliate!

Ben's Guide

Ben’s Guide is an educational site from the U.S. Government Publishing Office. The site includes games and information for all age levels to learn about the three branches of government.

U.S. Courts

This page is offered by the US Courts and includes educational activities as well as readings on landmark Supreme Court cases that apply to students in school. This site is best suited for older students.

House of Representatives

“Kids in the House” is the US House of Representatives educational outreach page. It includes activities for children from pre-K to high school, all explaining the basics of Congress and the law-making process.

Health and Environment



National Institute of General Medical Sciences

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences’ education page includes study materials and games for students from the high school to graduate school level, as well as information regarding biomedical careers for inquiring students. This site is best suited for older students.

CDC

BAM!, or “Body and Mind” is a site from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that covers the basics of nutrition, disease, safety, and physical activity. The site is specifically designed for children between the ages of 9 and 12 and includes games and other material for learning about health.

Department of Energy

STEM Rising is a program from the U.S. Department of Energy, which includes resources for students from kindergarten to college, as well as help for teachers, including lesson plans, study guides, and project ideas.

NASA Climate Kids

NASA’s Climate Kids initiative includes games, DIY activities, videos, and interviews with climate scientists, all adapted for young learners.

Environmental Protection Agency

The EPA students page is tailored for educators and includes resources for the classroom, project ideas, and K-12 homework help on environmental topics.

FEMA

FEMA for Kids includes resources for parents, kids, and K-12 educators to encourage emergency preparedness and education about natural disasters. The site includes lesson plans, coping strategies, and games to familiarize children with natural disaster preparedness and emergency kits.

National Fire Protection Administration

Sparky is the mascot for the National Fire Prevention Administration and teaches children about fire safety through a wide array of games, videos, and other activities. Many of these activities are printer-friendly and ready for classroom use.

NIH

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences uses this page as an educational resource for kids, educators, and parents to teach children about topics like recycling, pollution, and wildlife. The site also includes a “Little Kids” section for preschoolers.

Language and Culture



Peace Corps

The Peace Corps’ educator resources include hundreds of lesson plans, activities, and readings for students K-12. The topics span from foreign language instruction to global issues, geography, religion, and social studies.

National Gallery of Art

The National Gallery of Art’s teachers page includes information regarding school programs and tours, lesson plans, and interactive activities for kids. The page also has access to free art resources and images for download.

Library of Congress

“America’s Story” is the Library of Congress’ interactive platform for teaching children about American history.

Smithsonian Institute

This page by the Smithsonian Institute includes interactive activities and games revolving around the National Zoo and various Smithsonian museums. The page also includes a section for parents regarding tips and points of interest when visiting with children.

Miscellaneous

PBS Kids

PBS Kids is a site intended for small children, complete with games and videos based on the characters of PBS shows. The site also includes a section for parents and teachers which includes digital resources for the classroom and online activity monitoring for parents.

U.S. Census

Statistics in Schools is a program from the US Census Bureau intended to support educators in teaching statistics to all ages K-12. The site offers activities and resources for teachers, as well as a database with facts about the fifty states.

F.B.I.

The FBI Kids Page has sections for K-5 and 6-12 learning. The page includes information about the objectives and history of the Bureau, as well as games and safety tips.
